Franke Sorter systems simplifies recycling in the kitchen
(22/01/2009)
Franke has brought together the ergonomics of the kitchen environment, and the growing need to separate household waste into recyclable groups, with their range of Sorter systems. Offering a convenient alternative to the conventional waste bin, Franke Sorters are available in a variety of capacities and configurations to fit neatly into 500 and 600mm kitchen base units.
As may be expected from Franke, the world’s largest manufacturer of sinks and a company at the forefront of research and development of kitchen products, the Sorter system has been conceived with the designer, installer and homeowner in mind.
Franke Sorters are hygienic, convenient, discreet, robust and easily installed below or beside the sink. The Sorter 350 series fit into carcass units with most soft-close door systems, including Blum (Tandembox), Hettich (Quadro V6) and Grass (Nova pro); whilst the Sorter 700 series and Sorter Solo both fit neatly into any standard kitchen unit. The Sorter 700 KickMatic model allows hands-free operation through the use of a foot pedal, whilst the Motion version has a smooth closing action.
As every household’s needs are different, the plastic containers used within the Sorters come in a range of shapes, sizes and types. This enables the designer to configure bespoke units so that bottles, cans, paper or organic waste can be segregated, as required, for composting or disposal through recycling.
Odours are contained within the Sorter by a lid that closes over the containers and, at the same time, serves as a useful shelf, whilst the lid of the Sorter 350 and 360 models contains a carbon-activated odour filter. The containers take standard size bin liners and have handles so are easily lifted in and out for emptying, cleaning and carrying.
