Plumb Center & Parts Center raise £105,000 for children’s charity

Despite more and more people feeling the pinch this past year, it is reassuring to see that support has been outstanding for the fundraising efforts of Plumb Center and Parts Center. With the help of the generous customers throughout the UK an outstanding £105,000 was raised for Action for Children.

The main events of the year were a challenging five-day Andalucian bike ride of almost 400km from Granada to Seville for 28 Plumb & Parts Center employees and suppliers, and a trek in Croatia which saw 30 staff and suppliers trekking over four days through the Istrian peninsula.

To help raise the funds for these events numerous fundraising activities were arranged and these ranged from traditional raffles and golf days to glamorous balls and Christmas parties – all activities were met with an enormous level of support and in turn helped to make the cycle challenge and trek such a success financially.

Action for Children is one of the UK’s leading children’s charities and dedicates its efforts to supporting children and young people affected by poverty, disability, abuse or neglect. Providing services in the heart of local communities, Action for Children runs 479 projects around the UK and helps around 200,000 children, young people and their families across the UK each year.

Keith Jones, Plumb Center’s Managing Director, said: “Fundraising continues to be incredibly important to us all here at Plumb Center, Parts Center and throughout Wolseley UK. We are conscious that we use the scale and breadth of the company to help others wherever possible and have great admiration for the work of Action for Children. We are extremely grateful to all those who took part.”

At these times, when everyone is feeling the pinch, this unprecedented support really goes a long way to helping Action for Children to give some of the most vulnerable children and young people in the country the chance of a more positive future.”
Plumb and Parts Center will be continuing its charitable support for next year and hopes to have many more successful events.
